Your specials: Bike 9. Terry Ward’s 1966 Lambretta Sprint Scooter:

So far we’ve featured eight very special bikes, but this is our first scooter, and our first championship-winning racer.
This is a past Classic Bike 250cc Sprint champion, which can cover a 1/4 mile from a standing start in 13.75 seconds, with a top speed of 96mph. It has evolved over past seasons, but new parts for 2006 include carbon fibre clutch plates, a tougher gearbox and Varitronic with programmable black box.

Already added for the coming season are lightened drop handlebars with quick action throttle and hadn gearchange, high-compression central plug for ultra-high octane fuel, a new engine with tuned Rapido 250cc kit, a TMX35 Mikuni Carb, lightened gearbox parts and a modified fibreglass RS250 seat.
And there are plans for a superlight aluminium seat sub fram/petrol tank and some engine tuning.
The season begins on April 9 at Woodbridge. But Terry is also building a 252cc 1964 Lambretta Scooter Sprinter for another rider.
Terry also wants to thank sponsors: Michelin Uk Tyres, Pro Alloy, race Products, FM helmets, Sparkright technologies, Rich presley, Nokia Mobile Phones, Allen’s Performance R&D, AF Rayspeed, Tino Sacchi of Imola racing and the Lambretta Club of Great Britain.
