Monkey madness

Almost 30 mentalists on Monkey bikes are heading from John O’Groats to Lands End this week to raise £25,000 for two cancer charities.

Kevin Wadsworth from Huddersfield organised the trip and managed to get 27 others to join him on the week-long trip.

Wadsworth wants to do the trip to raise money for the oncology ward at Huddersfield hospital that looked after him when he was sick with cancer. He also wants to raise money for cancer charity Backup which specialises in the type of cancer he was suffering from.

He said: “The first couple of days were fun because the weather was horrendous and it was playing havoc with the electrics on some of the bikes. We’ve had a few breakdowns but we are still altogether and making good progress.

“The range of the bikes between fill-ups has varied from 50 miles on some of the Dax bikes to around 155 miles with the bikes with Gorilla tanks.”
