Asda wins KillSpills award

Asda has won the KillSpills/BMF Diesel Spills Reduction Award for 2005.

The supermarket chain’s distribution arm landed it for briefing all theirr drivers on the danger diesel spills post to motorcyclists,

Asda employs more than 4000 drivers covering 130 million miles each year. Asda put up KillSpills posters and make sure that all new drivers who join the company also get the anti-diesel spill briefing.

The award, sponsored by Bennetts Insurance, will be presented to Asda’s Fleet Contracts manager Chris Hall at the start of the 2005 KillSpills Rally on Saturday September 10.

Over 1200 riders are expected to join this second KillSpills Rally. It startis from the Ace Cafe on London’s North Circular Road and ends at the House of Commons where Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Minister, Tom Brake, will meet riders.

A delegation from the ride will also call at 10 Downing Street where an anniversary card and eight- page diesel hazard report will be presented to Prime Minister Tony Blair.
