Hibernian drops Ireland

Irish riders will have one less choice for their insurance from July 1 after Hibernian Insurance decided to pull out of the country.

The firm stated increased liability for pillion riders and the poor standard of training that Irish riders get for its reasons for dropping it’s services.

Rival firm Carole Nash has come forward to state its commitment to the country and said that it prefers to reward riders for taking further training by offering cheaper premiums to those that do, as well as lobbying the government for better regulation.

Carole Nash’s managing director, Damian Keeling, said: “We are concerned that reducing insurance options could result in a higher proportion of uninsured riders and kill off motorcycling in Ireland at a time when car-fuelled congestion is reaching epidemic proportions.

“What we don’t want to see is Irish riders giving up on biking and we are already looking at how we might positively encourage Hibernian policyholders to move to Carole Nash when their renewal becomes due.”
