1 of 1

This year’s annual Sheene run will take place on July 3 with hundreds of bikes doing a lap of Rugby town centre to raise money for Mencap.

The event takes place on the anniversary of the death of racing legend Barry Sheene and will include stunt riders, extreme trials, Harley displays and live music as well as the mile long ride-out round the town.

Steve Parrish ,BBC Sport presenter and close friend of Sheene’s, will also be at the event, which is donating all proceeds to charity.

Neil Hellings, chief executive of the ACU, which is organising the event, said “The aim of the Sheene Run is to benefit differing parts of society and for 2005 the chosen beneficiary will be Mencap, this national charity provides crucial support for people from all walks of life regardless of gender, race, creed or age. The very spirit of motorcycling has at its heart the same non discriminatory attitudes.”
