Bike Week starts Friday

One of the world’s biggest bike gatherings rumbles into action on Friday, March 4 – Daytona Bike Week.

MCN’s Andy Downes and Steve Farrell are attending the huge Florida event – rubbing shoulders with the hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the States – and a crowd of jet-setting MCN readers who signed up for our annual trip.

Andy and Steve will be sending back reports direct from Main Street. But you can join in too. If you are going to be in Daytona for the festivities and want to share what you see with fellow users of this site, send your jpegs, thoughts and low-res video clips to mcn.online@emap.com with DAYTONA in the subject line.

The week begins on Friday with the Leather and Lace Bash at Deland Museum, plus the opening of ongoing events running until March 13 – including the world famous cole slaw wrestling (on March 9).

The track events start on Sunday, March 6 with AHRMA road race registration and inspection. It’s open to the public and offers the chance to get close hundreds of vintage.

The Daytona 200 race is held on the afternoon of Saturday March 12 but most UK interest will be in the US superbike round held in the morning – in which former WSB champion and ex-MotoGP star Neil Hodgson will be in action.
