Ticket wardens nick bikes

An investigation by the BBC claims London parking attendants have been stealing motorcycles parked illegally.

The claims are made by a reporter for the Whistleblower programme, which airs on Wednesday June 1, 2005 at 9pm on BBC One.

Undercover reporter Nkem Ifejika revealed a parking attendant working alongside him spotted a motorcycle categorised as abandoned after being parked illegally for a few days. The attendant then spent the next week attempting to steal it by moving it, putting his own lock on and covering it over in order to hide it from the owner.

The investigation also revealed attendants cancelling fines in return for cash.
