MAG starts flood appeal

MAG has launched an appeal for those who lost out when flash floods struck the site of last weekend’s Farmyard Party.

The Motorcycle Action Group run event was at Duncomble Park in North Yorks (see link below, right). And while the 8000 party goers had cleared out by the time the waters rose, the marshals who were left behind on Sunday to tidy up took the brunt.

MAG spokesman Ian Mutch said: “Due to your concerns and requests, MAG are setting up a FYP Marshals Flood Appeal.

“As you can imagine the site clearance is still on going and the marshals are stretched to the limit under the difficult conditions.Health and safety is a big issue at present with heavy machinery moving on site and raw sewage now stagnating in the standing water.

“The marshals, who are all volunteers and even pay for their tickets to attend the event, have the experience and professionalism to cope. Lead by Pete Walker the “come down” when the adrenaline and work is finished will hit hard as many have lost clothes and personal possessions, while bikes have been badly damaged and days lost from work.

While the event was insured, MAG says the extent to which it will compensate is limited and those who have sacrificed most to make the event a success are currently the biggest losers.

You can donate by ringing MAG UK on 0870 444 8448 and asking for FYP Marshals Flood Appeal with credit card details or post cheques payable to “MAG UK Ltd” to MAG UK, PO BOX 750, Rugby, CV21 3ZR marked “FYP MFA”.
