BMW offers ABS checks

Owners of BMWs with integral ABS systems are being told to get their brakes checked.
BMW has issued the invitation for a free inspection, which should be carried out by a dealer before February 28, 2006.

A spokesman said: “BMW has been made aware of two rider training incidents where, after repeated emergency braking excercises, a motorcycle’s ABS system failed to activate.”
He said initial investigations suggest it’s a battery fault and that “no real world case of ABS failure, in any situation, is known to us.”
