Italy challenge begins

Three MCN staffers are on their way from the office in Peterborough to Lake Garda in Italy on Italian bikes they have sourced for less than £1000.

Catch up on their last-minute preparations through the video and audio links below. They left at 9am on Monday morning (August 1) with the intention of getting to Garda and back by Thursday night. Though some reckon at least one of their number won’t make it to Dover…

It’s all part of a challenge to see who buys wisest. They will be camping along the way and we’ll be getting regular updates from motorcyclenews.com Used Bikes Editor Angus Farquhar – who is one of the three-man team. Read about it in the August 10, 17 and 24 issues of MCN.

Farquhar’s choice is a Gilera Runner 180 scooter. He’s up against a ‘shonker’ of a Monster 600 and a clean and well-maintained Guzzi V50.

Just a pity then, that Farquhar has forgotten his tent… and that Chad’s Monster seems unwilling to start…
