Are you a BUMMER?

1 of 1

It sounds like something straight from the playground, but it’s actually anti-speed campaigners who are labelling motorcyclists “bummers”!

In a move that’s likely to both alienate and insult, the Warwickshire Speed Camera Partnership has sent out postcards to riders with interesting titles such as: “Through-and-through bummer” showing three bikes crashing into hedges. Click here for more of them.

They claim they chose the word as a tortured acronym for Be Under Maximum MPH Every Ride (thanks for the tip, chaps. 170mph-plus can be a bit of a challenge on a daily basis…) – and because a “bummer” is slang for a bad time.

But most riders are likely to get the hump with the label, what ever its intention. And the Gay Bikers Motorcycle Club is certain some members will be offended.

One line from the organisation’s website suggests: “You can also help others by sharing your ‘Bummer’ experiences.”
