The big bike gathering held on the Quayside in Poole on Tuesday nights is getting a boost from dealer Crescent Suzuki.

The firm is offering prizes and trophies to the owner of the best bike to enter the Dream Machine competition each week The best each week gets invited to enter a final at the end of the season, too.

The competition is one of the attractions for the Poole bike nights, held every Tuesday night from April until late September. The first is on April 6 this year, starting at 6pm.

Around 2000 bikes turn up on a good night and, to make best use of the available parking, marshals guide riders. There is a £1 entry fee, which goes to charity. Locals are better off opting for the £5 season ticket (which gets you in to all 26 meets throughout the season).

The Quay is closed to all traffic except bikes.

Martyn James, MD of Crescent Suzuki, said: We are thrilled to be putting the Crescent name to Poole’s longstanding bike night. The continued success of the quayside event has grown into being part of the town’s culture.”

There are a variety of pubs, bars and restaurants on the Quay as well as the chip shop kiosks (if you don’t mind sharing with seagulls).
