Bike fine wins award

An award has been given to Lambeth Council for the most outrageous parking ticket of 2004.

Despite close competition, the council received its award for putting a parking fine on a councillor’s mangled moped just minutes after he was involved in an accident.

As Wandsworth councillor Nadhim Zahawi received treament in the back of an ambulance for a broken leg, a passerby knocked on the amublance door to tell him a traffic warden has just fined his vehicle.

The award was chosen by the AppealNow website which was set up to battle incorrect and fraudulent parking fines.
