The BMF Show roundup

1 of 1

The BMF is now over for another year, as exhibitors pack up and the crowds trickle out clutching fairings, lids and jackets. The afternoon saw dry weather, but the wind picked up slightly, meaning many people were leaving before the show finale.

There was still plenty of activity though, with the opportunity to ride KTM LC4 Supermoto bikes, Kawasaki dirt bikes, and displays from trials riders, all in addition to the shows performed in the main arena.

If you’ve just got back from the BMF with pictures or video of the weekend, send them to mcn.online@emap.com and we’ll put the best ones on the site.

Sunday 1pm: Everybody recovered well from the evening’s activities to wake up to a sunny day but that didn’t last as it began to rain just when the cavalcade of clubs came in to the show arena.

The rain neatly stopped at the end of the cavalcade but left the place very muddy.

Despite the weather hoards of people turned up for the second day taking full advantage of the massive retail and autojumble stands and raising huge rounds of applause for the stunt teams performing in the main arena.

Sunday 1am: The revelry continued on well in to the night at the Memba rally with hundreds of bikers getting in to the swing of things, many in full fancy dress.

Great cover bands on the stage put everyone in the mood for a party and copious amounts of alcohol were consumed by all, leading to some crazy antics in the early hours.

Saturday 8pm:

The weather is still very changeable. Despite this, motorcyclenews.com is braving the Membas rally to bring you all the best action from the evenings entertainment. Check back tomorrow morning to see how we got on.

Saturday 3.30pm:

The weather has improved dramatically over a packed BMF Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough. Although still marred by the occasional cloud, the sun has finally arrived.

There are no major traffic problems, and everyone is in good spirits. Plenty of bargains are available, including Frank Thomas one-piece leathers from £100, HJC ZF7 lids in chrome from £99, and Sidi boots from £75.

If you’ve spotted a great bargain at the show, or managed to take some pictures, email the details to mcn.online@emap.com and we’ll print the best.

Saturday: 10am

The weather has improved slightly since yesterday. Although it is still overcast with the threat of rain later, at the moment, there’s only spray from the road surface to worry about.

The main routes to Peterborough will have a police presence as shown by police motorcycle riders following us all the way to our office, so any misbehaviour is a bad idea.

We’ll be heading out shortly to get pics and reports from the BMF Show, so keep checking back to the site.

Friday:

The first arrivals have already been turning up for the BMF Memba rally despite bad weather.

The prize for longest distance travelled so far goes to the German gentleman who set off at 2am this morning, and has already arrived safe and sound on his MV Agusta. Other early arrivals include one rider who misread the 6pm opening time as 6am.

Around 50 bikes were already waiting eagerly for the gates to open by 2.30pm, with more riders arriving every minute for the 2003 Show which promises to be the biggest ever.

And spirits are still high despite the constant rain across the country. Bikers from as far afield as Portsmouth and Dover were reporting the rain stretching across the South-East.

There are no reports of any traffic problems, although the M11 is busy as usual, with bunches of heavier traffic in some parts.
