Ronnie Smith tribute night: Sheene print for auction

A fundraising evening in honour of Simon ” Ronnie ” Smith will take place at Club Amadeus, Northallerton, on Tuesday March 18.

Included in the fundraising auction is a signed Barry Sheene print.

Ronnie died in January of this year. He was a road tester for Performance Bikes magazine, and a popular racer, riding at every TT since 1993, winning eight silver replicas, and nine bronze replicas. He also competed in British Supersports, Superstock and Superbike racing, and the Macau TT.

Racers attending include Jamie Whitham, David Jefferies, Stuart Easton, John McGuinness and Steve Plater among others, and they’ll be taking part in a special chat show on stage. There will also be an auction, with lots including Neil Hodgson’s Fila Ducati race leathers from Phillip Island, a Team Foggy Petronas team shirt signed by Cary Fogarty, helmet and shirt signed by Steve Hislop, and a pair of VIP passes for every round of the 2003 British Superbike championship.

There are also lids and clothing signed by Steve Plater, Niall Mackenzie, Chris Walker, Chris Vermeulen, Mary Anne Hobbs, Karl Muggeridge. Plus plenty of other items including Troy Corser’s crash damaged FP1 fairing from Valencia, and Stuart Easton’s 2002 British Supersport-winning leathers.

There’s also an auction, with £1500-worth of Hein Gericke vouchers and tickets to the British GP up for grabs.

Admission is £2.50, and the event begins at 8pm. All proceeds will go to Ronnie’s partner Jane, and their two sons Harry and Fred.
