Police donate ground anchors to hotels

1 of 1

Touring bikers visiting Whitley Bay and Tynemouth will be able to sleep a little easier this summer, thanks to Northumbrian Police donating bike locks to local hotels.

The locks are being given free of charge by Tynemouth police. So far four hotels have taken up the offer, but many more have expressed an interest. ” Every summer we get one or two incidents of motorbikes stolen from outside hotels. The locks will also act as a visual deterrent to thieves, and hopefully it will encourage more bikers to make use of hotels in the area, ” said Whitley Bay Pc Ian Gillie
