C1 rider wins court case

1 of 1

BMW C1 rider Peter Parker has won the right to ride without wearing a lid in a ground-breaking court case.

Parker, 44, from Bedford, was found not guilty of three charges of riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet. He successfully argued that the C1, with its enclosing safety cage and seat-belt, should be treated differently to normal motorcycles.

His victory is likely to mean other C1 riders who go lidless in the UK will escape future prosecution.

MCN is investigating the implications.

Parker appeared before Bedford magistrates and used a safety video, model of the bike and a practical demonstration of the C1 to win the argument.
