Sheene Run ‘not official’

Barry Sheene’s nephew, Scott Smart, has posted on our Sheene Memorial Run discussion board questioning the ‘official status of the ACU’s event.

The Hawk Kawasaki British Superbike rider has expressed concern that Sheene was not a fan of the ACU. ” The last contact that he had with them was letting the tyres down of a senior members’ car, ” he revealed.

He also questioned the scheduling of the event, which coincide with the British Superbikes round at Rockingham. He also says that there will be an official event, run in conjunction with the Sheene family, later in the year.

And the ACU have used our discussion board to reply. Chief Executive Neil Hellings has posted a response to Smart defending the event.
