Piaggio targets commuters with sheep

Piaggio will launch an ad campaign comparing commuters to sheep, and encouraging them to take to two wheels to avoid the London Congestion Charge.

Timed to coincide with the charge coming into force, the ” Freedom on Wheels ” campaign launches on February 14, with new ads to appear on key poster sites near public transport stations throughout the Capital. Commuters will even be ‘picketed’ by herds of sheep demonstrators in an attempt to raise consumer awareness in the run up to, February 17th, when the Congestion Charge comes into force.

” The Congestion Charge is an emotive subject for commuters living both in and outside London, and this campaign aims to show them all that they have options, ” says Siobhan Curtin, Marketing Manager for Piaggio. ” Rather than being another sheep why not spend as little as £10 per week for a scooter which you can fill up for around £5, is exempt from the Congestion Charge and can be parked free almost anywhere in London. Not only that, but a scooter cuts the average journey time in the Capital by 40 per cent. With public transport set to become even more overcrowded as a result of the Congestion Charge, that has to be a less stressful way to travel. ”
