Northants. man Darrel Brown has embarked on a mission to use his bike to raise money for his local school by riding it around four race circuits in one day on April 25.

The School, which Browns children attend, is in need of new playground equipment which is expected to cost as much as £12,000. As well as the usual fétes, jumble sales, and car boot sales, Brown has decided to take his bike and make it work to raise money for the project by gathering sponsorship for him to ride around four race circuits in one day.

Brown aims to raise as much as £2,000 by the endeavour and has already managed to raise £150 despite still being in the early planning stages.

He hopes to ride around Silverstone, Donnigton Park, Mallory Park, and Rockingham Speedway on his Suzuki GSXF750, which his local garage, John Lee Motorcycles, has already agreed to prepare for him. He will also be getting a free days track training with Andy Ibbott of the California Superbike School, who just happens to be a neighbour.

Brown is also heavily involved in raising money for the school in others ways and is a regular attendee at local boot fairs. Commenting on his passion for the cause, he said: ” I didn’t have a good time at school when I was a kid, I didn’t get the chance to go on any trips or anything like that. I just thought that this is my chance to give something back and make things a little better for these kids. ”

Although he has only been riding since August last year, Brown feels confident in the endeavour and says that he came up with the idea after attending the MCN Spring Spectacular last year at which he managed to get in several laps of Cadwell park.
