Congestion charging begins in London

1 of 1

Today (February 17) marks the start of congestion charging in London. With car drivers now required to pay £5 daily to drive through central London, the number of bikes in the capital is expected to rise.

Check out our February 19 issue for a complete look at why congestion charging matters to you, even if you never step foot in London.

If you have to live or work in London, how has congestion charging affected your journey? Have the roads been empty, allowing you to make the trip in half the time, or have you had your way blocked by hundreds of new scooter riders? Worst of all, have you found all your normal parking spaces are already full by the time you get there? Send your stories to daniel.thornton@emap.com and we will enter you in to a competition to win the wide range of miscellaneous items that we found under our desks in a recent office reshuffle (See the picture on the right).

If you need to find somewhere else to park your bike, motorcyclenews.com may have the answer with our guide to parking spaces in London, and other major UK cities.

The motorcyclenews.com parking guide

Ever had a problem finding a parking space for your bike? Are all of the bays always full? Wouldn’t it make life much easier if you knew where all the parking spaces were and could find another if the one you wanted was full to bursting? Traffic wardens can be ruthless if you’re even an inch outside the marked bay.

Welcome to the motorcyclenews.com parking guide. We aim to provide a comprehensive guide to as many of the parking spaces throughout the country as we can, from roadside parking in Westminster to multi-storey parking in Edinburgh. Just click a link on the right to see all the parking bays in your area.

This list is going to be an ever-evolving feature of the site and will constantly be updated as more information comes in and more spaces are made available.

The introduction of congestion charging in London will see an increasing amount of people turning to two wheels and only a limited number of spaces to park them all. If your usual space is now getting full to the brim, click on the links on the right to find a list of all the alternative sites that you could use.

We will be starting the guide with a list of all the major cities in the UK but the plan is to expand it to include any that we find. If you find that your local spot is not listed send us the details to angus.farquhar@emap.com and we will add it in.
