Her name is Rio…

Easy on the eye and hard on the brain. That’s the charge leveled at some telly totty called in to commentate on motorsport. Not Sky’s speedway presenter Jane Omorogbe, though.

Omorogbe, better known as Rio from Gladiators, is a full-time, red-blooded motorcyclist who recently rode her new Honda VFR800 through 250 miles of pouring rain to commentate on a race at the Belle Vue Aces’ track in Manchester from her home in Portsmouth. Only to find it had been abandoned due to the weather.

She told MCN: ” People at Sky thought I was mad riding to Manchester and back. But I had a Dainese Gore-Tex jacket and I wanted to see if it would leak – it didn’t. ”

Omorogbe, who you also see cut in half by Russell Crowe in the Oscar-winning film Gladiator, says she’s determined to ride her bike to all her weekly speedway duties.
