Hells Angel sues government

1 of 1

Hells Angels have a reputation for avoiding the law, but Canadian Angel Donny Petersen is using it to sue the Canadian province of Ontario.

Petersen was appointed to a committee to assess apprenticeship training programmes for mechanics, and was then appointed chairmen of the committee by other members.

Yet days after serving as a spokesman for the Hells Angels Toronto convention, he received a letter telling him his appointment had been revoked.

Now he has begun a lawsuit, claiming his constitutional right to free association was denied when he was dismissed from a government committee because of his association with the biker club, and the Ontario government intend to fight it out in court.

Petersen wasn’t the only one to get into trouble after the Toronto convention. The Mayor of Toronto was criticised after publicly welcoming the Angels.
