Cop caught with false plates

1 of 1

A policeman in Nottingham has just resigned after being caught with false plates on his bike.

PC Jonathan Partridge fitted them to his (unspecified) Suzuki after using a confidential police database to find an unregistered licence number.

He was caught after stopped by fellow officers doing 73mph in a 30mph zone. Unfortunately for Partridge, he was stopped by the same officers who had previously pulled him over and, despite the altered plate, the other cops recognised the bike. Further checks revealed the tax disc and registration plates didn’t match and a search of Partridge’s house turned up the old plate, hidden in a wardrobe.

He had swapped the plates after clocking up several points on his licence for speeding.

The 27-year-old resigned from the force and admitted fraudulent use of a vehicle trade licence and speeding.

A police spokesman said: ” Mr. Partridge is among an extremely small minority of police officers in abusing the trust placed in him and was caught through the vigilance of his colleagues ” .

He will be sentenced at crown court at a later date.
