British biking’s big weekend

1 of 1

It’s the unmissable event of the biking year this weekend. The BMF Show throws open its doors on Saturday May 18 at the East of England Showground, Peterborough and by the time they close on Sunday evening, an estimated 90,000 of us will have passed through them.

If you’re going to try and visit everything in the Show you might very well need both of those days, too.

There are live bands to catch, thousands of bargain bits of kit to be had, bars to refresh you, stunt shows to thrill you – and even take part in, BMWs, KTMs, scooters and CCMs to test ride, the infamous moped races and all the latest bikes to climb over.

There is a number of official ride-ins organised. On Saturday they leave from McDonalds at Brampton Hut services, on the junction of the A14 and A1 and the Little Chef at Morcott on the A47. Both set off at 9.30am to arrive at the Showground by 10am.

On Sunday there’s a rideout from the Ace Café in Stonebridge, north London. It also leaves at 9.30am for the 80-mile journey.

If you’re organising a ride-out, just e-mail the details to dave.batchelor@emap.com and we’ll make sure they get posted on the site.

The Show runs May 18-19 9am-5pm. It’s £12 for adults, senior citizens £8 and children under 14 get in free if they’re accompanied by an adult.

You don’t need to be a member of the BMF to get in, but joining gets you £2 off the entrance fee. You can contact the BMF on: 0116-254-8818 or by visiting the website: www.bmf.co.uk

The Showground is well signposted from the A1 and A47.

If you’ve got some great snaps from the BMF – why not send them to us? We’ll post the best ones. Send your efforts to dave.batchelor@emap.com
