Vote for a pro-bike Budget

1 of 1

We’re asking which one thing you’d like Chancellor Gordon Brown to do in his next budget (due on April 17) which would most help motorcycling. So far your votes make reducing road tax for all bikes your No1 priority.

More than a quarter of the opinions posted so far put that ahead of the other options we list below. But it is closely followed by a call to end VAT on bike boots, gloves and leathers and a suggestion that VAT should be cut from the price of new scooters.

There’s a swell of support for spending MORE on our roads and you’ve come up with new ideas the Chancellor should consider. For example, TC suggests VAT payments on CBT’s should be axed… because the CBT is compulsory. Geriatric would like more incentives for councils to supply bike parks.

The Chancellor will present his Budget on April 17 and during the run-in the usual rumours about more tax on this and cuts in that are running around.

So which of the following would you like him to include to help motorcycling?

An end to VAT on genuinely protective motorcycle clothing. There’s no VAT on lids, so isn’t it about time that was extended to leathers, gloves and boots?

Take VAT off the price of new scooters to encourage more people on to two wheels in cities.

Cut fuel tax for everyone, to bring us into line with the rest of the world

Reduce road tax for all motorcycles, to recognise the contribution they make to reducing congestion.

Some other pro-motorcycling measure.
