Triumph factory restart delayed

Triumph has had to reschedule its return to production after investigations by structural engineers revealed that the damage wrought by the fire which swept its Hinckley factory in March is worse than originally thought.

For more details on Triumph’s slow comeback, don’t miss the latest issue of MCN, out June 26.

The firm had hoped to be manufacturing again by mid-August, but now mid-September is looking more realistic. Even so, Triumph is only expecting to be producing at one quarter capacity. It will be another two months before it is back up to 100 per cent.

Triumph managing director Karl Wharton said: ” Our construction programme is on schedule and will enable bikes to start rolling off the line during late September. ”

Triumph’s priority when production resumes will be meeting the demand for Bonnevilles and finally starting to supply Speed Fours.
