Survey reveals best bike engines the way you see it

1 of 1

Close to 1200 people have rated their bikes in Owners’ Reports for this site. Now we’ve drawn together their findings to reveal which bike manufacturers get rated the highest and lowest in a whole range of vital categories. Today we start with the average scores for engines.

Each day this week we’ll be revealing the results of another category. They will cover everything from handling, to insurance and servicing costs and overall owner satisfaction.

Remember these aren’t OUR findings, they are YOURS, derived from the scores of people who have bought and lived with their bikes. They are the results of a combined thousands of years of riding experience and millions of road and track miles.

They could help you decide which bike you buy next.

Here’s how the biggest manufacturers scored. Where a manufacturer is not included it is because the size of the sample was too small to be used as a fair comparison.

The good news is all of the top manufacturers score well, with no average rating dipping below 90 per cent.

The joint highest rated are Kawasaki and Yamaha with 93 per cent. Triumph and Suzuki are next in line with 92 per cent. Honda, Ducati and Aprilia each score 91 per cent for their engines. Bottom of the pile, but still with a respectable 90 per cent, is BMW.

The closeness of the scores reflects a generally high level of satisfaction with the performance of bike engines. The difference between scores may be small but, in a survey of this size, they are significant.
