Eight new 2002 Triumphs tested

One hundred years ago a new name entered motorcycling, the now famous Triumph. But the Triumph that’s just grown the amount of bikes it sells and entered the top twenty bike sales in the UK with the Triumph Bonneville is just a mere baby. The Triumph name may be 100 years old but the Triumphs we’re riding in their thousands now come from a Hinckley-made history of just eleven years. And last year more people bought Triumph Bonnevilles in the Uk than Honda Hornets. That makes our own ” little ” Triumph a major player.

Just over a decade after the first Hinckley-built 1200cc Trophy, the companies range now spans twelve models from the TT600 Supersports to the classic styled Bonnie and the well-accomplished Daytona 955i.

We’ve got a selection of the firm’s eight favourite models for 2002 on test including the new Centennial Daytona 955i. We’ve got everything from the new big engined Speed Triple to the long and low new for 2002 Bonneville America.

And we’re pleased to announce the news that our favourite and only credible British manufacturer is the second fastest growing bike brand on sale in the UK. It still may be small compared to the likes of Honda, but Triumph has grown it sales of bikes in the UK from 3.20 per cent of total new bikes sales in the UK during 2000, to 3.83 per cent of total bike sales in the UK this year. Since its birth the firm has built over 140,000 bikes from Hinckley and is in the process of setting up its new factory aiming to build 50,000 bikes a year and divesify its range even further.

And that can only be a good thing, especially if it keeps on building bikes like the ever popular version of the latest Daytona 955I, the new Aston Green Centennial Edition
