A television company has been ordered to pay almost $1.7 million to a group of Sydney bikers after it defamed them on it’s A Current Affair and Today programs.

The bikers were filmed for a show on theme weddings, which included a massed bike ride.

The same footage was later used by Channel Nine to illustrate stories on motorcycle gangs. A Supreme Court jury found this associated the 11 people with drug trafficking, rape and murder. Justice Michael Adams described the broadcaster’s behaviour as ” wicked and irresponsible ” .
