2002 Ducati Monster M620

It started a couple of years ago as an idea, I think I will get a bike again, house OK, job OK and the car is bullet proof.

The main problem is choice, what to buy, going back to motorcycling I didn’t want a fire breather, I just couldn’t justify it, so I decided on a 600cc machine and thought an unfaired retro type would do the trick.

Honda, Yamaha Suzuki and Kawasaki all make something along these lines but I quickly discounted the latter makes and it was a straight choice between a Hornet or a Bandit.

Earlier this year I visited a dealer to have a look at a Hornet and a week later I walked into another dealers and ordered a Ducati Monster M620s i.e.

Simply put the monster is a beautiful bike and when it comes to buying something that you don’t really need this is as good a reason to buy one as any other.

My last riding experience was riding 1000\750 four’s and with this in mind I set off, after ten minutes I was ready to sell the damm thing, it was horrific, the engine braking was lethal, the brakes enormous and the handling was altogether far to good for me, after an hour you would have to shoot me to get it.

You do not need a reason to buy a Ducati you just do it, after a couple of rides you realise why you should and did buy it.

It is pointless me trying to go into to much detail about how the bike handles or it’s power, by 600 hundred standards it is slow, the Suzuki SV is arguably a better vehicle, park the two side by side and the Suzuki will cease to exist.

In the short time I have owned this bike I have become aware of the myth and legend that surrounds the Ducati name.

If you do not need a motorbike buy with your heart and buy a Monster
