Pledge on bad service

Britain’s biggest bike dealer has appointed new MD Mark Smithson to tackle its poor service record. He arrives after a survey by MCN’s sister magazine RiDE which criticised the firm’s servicing. As a direct result of the findings, the firm has also put plans to rename its bike shops on hold. It had intended to bring all the Carnell-City stores under the name of Dixon Bikes. The Dixon Group already runs a successful car business and wanted to give the company a fresh image. But now owner Simon Dixon is adamant he’ll only allow a re-branding when the firm has a better reputation.

He said: ” The easiest thing for us to do would have been to slap a new name and logo on the stores. That would hide the problems. We haven’t done that, we want to address them. ”
