Cops clampdown on stunts

1 of 1

Police will issue Antisocial Behaviour Orders on riders who repeatedly pull stunts, ride with illegal plates and cans or ride dangerously.

You can catch the full story on the clampdown in the new MCN, out April 10.

The Antisocial Behaviour Orders are effectively injunctions. If you are then caught breaking the law again, you can face prison sentences of up to five years.

Insp John Timmis is the man co-ordinating the force’s policy. He told MCN: ” I intend to use CCTV and video evidence to support prosecutions of those who ride dangerously or perform tricks for the crowd.

” I will also be urging my staff to deal firmly with riders of machines fitted with illegal registration plates and exhausts. ”

Are the police right to clamp down on riders behaving irresponsibly? Have your say by writing to us, e-mail: mcn.letters@emap.com or posting a message on motorcyclenews.com’s bulletin boards.
