Things we’ve experienced since the FireBlade

1 of 1

It’s ten years since the world was rocked by the unveiling of Honda’s FireBlade, but just how far has biking really come since 1991?

When the CBR900 hit the showrooms, thousands of people rushed to buy a bike which allied the power of 1000 to the handling of a sports 750. And they were happy to pay £7125 for it, without a discount in site.

Today, while the price of pretty much everything else has gone up, bikes are cheaper. With a bit of haggling , a new FireBlade can easily be yours for just £6400 almost £1000 cheaper than ten years ago!

It’s not just our bank balances that have benefited since then, though. We’ve gained lots of other things apart from cash some of them good, some bad. Meanwhile, other aspects of biking have disappeared. Some of them we’re glad to see the back of, while we wish others were still around. Join us as we count our blessings and have a bit of a whinge while we’re at it
