Step four: Exhaust

With after-market cans seemingly appearing on every bike over six weeks old, it depends what type you have, as to how you clean it. Many titanium cans come with cleaning instructions – if it does, follow them. Carbon cans should be safe with all cleaners. If you’ve got rear-sets, big feet or a Honda SP-1, there’s a good chance you’ll have managed to burn part of the heel of your boots onto the exhaust. Tar remover, plus a bit of effort and patience, will shift it.
