John O’Groats to Land’s End… by classic scooter

1 of 1

The idea of travelling from John O’Groats to Land’s End isn’t enough of a challenge for some people. These guys, among them a 28-year-old diagnosed with terminal cancer, decided to make it hard for themselves by covering their chosen 1000-mile route on classic scooters.

They leave on Saturday, July 21 on two Lambretta LI-150s from 1963, and four Vespa GTR 125s from the early 1970’s.

So not only will the riding be slow, the chances of mechanical failure have got to be pretty good.

” We’ll probably end up scooting them along with our feet ” , jokes organiser and cancer sufferer Andy Henry. It’s maybe just as well that a support van filled with spares donated by the Cambridge Lambretta Workshop is accompanying them.

Henry is taking a three-month break from chemotherapy to run and ride the event.

Check their website www.scootforloot.com for updates and your chance to contribute. They aim to raise £10,000 for children with Leukaemia.
