The year’s maddest trackday?

Is this the maddest trackday of the year? On December 28, just three days after stuffing yourself silly on Christmas pudding and turkey sandwiches, Donington Park is holding a trackday.

Donington has already received advanced bookings, as husbands around the country prepare far-fetched excuses for escaping the barely controlled chaos of kids, neighbours and grumpy grandparents.

Suzuki GSX-R750 rider Steve Buckley, from Leyland, has signed up and said: “It’s a long time until summer, and can you think of any better way to break up the Christmas holiday?”

Strangely, other mid-winter track addicts weren’t so interested in their names appearing here. The words: “If she finds out what I’m really doing, she’ll kill me!” were heard before various lines went dead.

The trackday costs £125 on the day or just £115 if you book in advance. There will be three groups or less, depending on the numbers on the day. The first session is out on track at 9am sharp (brrrr), so get there with time to spare. Details: 01332-819503
