How long will my helmet last?

Q. My crash helmet is a few years old but remains very comfortable. It was in absolutely tip-top condition until it rolled off the petrol tank a little while ago onto the petrol station forecourt’s concrete floor.

I really don’t want to buy another one unless I have to, but how do I know if it’s beyond help?

A. It’s nigh-on impossible to give a judgement on the condition of your crash helmet, unless it’s been obviously cracked from the outside. Motorcycle helmets for sale. On the flipside, even if it looks OK it may have been dangerously damaged, with a shock to the lid having the potential to compromise the integrity of the EPS (polystyrene) lining.

Contact the shop you bought it from and ask their advice. Most will refer you to the importer for an expert safety check and report.
