Best winter battery care

Q. I am going to need to take my BMW F800R off the road over the winter and would like some advice on how best to look after the battery. I cannot fit a trickle charger as there is no electricity available so is the best option to simply remove the battery and store it somewhere?

What effect, if any, will this have on the bikes electrics, alarm, computer etc?

A. There’s no problem removing the battery, but you will have to get the service lights reset at a dealership when you refit it. With any luck they will do it for free if you ask them about it when you’re buying something else there…
