Can I get a custom-made screen?

I have a 2007 Yamaha FJR1300A, which is a great bike, but I have an issue with the screen. When it’s down I just get buffeted to pieces, and if I put the screen up the wind just pushes my head forward from behind. I have looked at several screens and they are all bigger, wider and taller, and I don’t really like any of them. I would like to have my own screen made, I have already designed it, I just need someone to make a mould and then the screen, but I can’t find anyone.

The tooling costs would probably come to half the price of the bike as any firm would budget on making several hundred items before they have covered their costs. The best replacement we’ve come across is the German-made MRA Vario screen. It comes in two sections that slide over each other to make it height-adjustable from 46-51cm. Those sections also create a venturi effect that should reduce the buffeting and wind noise without pushing you forwards. You can also remove the upper section to make a ‘sports’ screen too. As your bike is a 2007 model it comes with a smoked lower section and costs £113 from www.fjclub.co.uk.
