Top tweaks for Suzuki GSX-R1000

of 1

MCN’s Michael Guy has been running a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 this year. Here are his top tips on how to make a great bike even better:

New SBS Street front brake pads to improve initial bite and all round braking performance. (£24, bifracing.co.uk)

Put the forks up through the top yokes by 3mm to steepen head angle which made the Suzuki steer quicker and change direction easier. (£FOC advice from Philip Neil at TAS Suzuki)

Two turns of rear spring preload to stop the bike sagging under hard acceleration. (£FOC advice from ex-BSB champion John Reynolds)

Yoshimura Street Sports Tri-Oval slip-on. The stainless steel Yoshimura four into one end saves 7kg in weight. (£665.04, 01782-569800, www.phoenixnw.co.uk or www.mcnshop.com).

Power Commander V. (£312.80, info@dynojet.co.uk; 01995-600500 or www.mcnshop.com).

Dunlop Qualifier II tyres. (£220 per pair, www.dunlopmotorcycle.co.uk)

Suzuki Accessory Kit. Includes a host of carbon protectors and a double bubble screen. (£215, www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/accessories)
