Q. Can I fit a race can to my Honda Hornet 600 which won’t get too hot for my pillion.

I have heard that carbon cans might not heat up as much?

A. You-re right that carbon fibre doesn’t conduct heat as well as alloy so it will feel cooler to the touch.

But what’s more important is that the can is double-skinned so there’s a layer of trapped insulating air.

It also needs to have a heat shield on the link pipe otherwise you’ll melt your boot on it.
