MCN Fleet: Winter tyre time for the R6

The Metzeler Racetec RRs are off the R6 and they’ve been replaced by Bridgestone’s Battlax T30 Evo.

The Metzelers were still legal and despite over 3000 miles which included a few track sessions they still had plenty of tread and weren’t too badly worn. But I needed something more suitable for the wet and cold of winter.

Bridgestone’s T30 Evo are an advanced sports touring tyre, which I’m told are impressive in the wet and suitable for sports bikes. So far I’m impressed, they warm up quickly, the rear offering grip within a mile of hard riding.

The recent wintery conditions have been horrendous – full of snow and sleet.  I’ve not been brave enough to push the front tyre. But in heavy rain they’ve been faultless and stability is excellent.  Fingers crossed I’ll get a few ‘knee down’ dry days in before Christmas and I’ll be able to give you a full report.
