MCN Fleet: KTM 1290 Super Adventure gets ready for off-road action

Well having just spent a day at the KTM UK workshop, my 1290 Super Adventure S is looking pretty trick, even if I do say so myself! In preparation for a day of off-road riding in Devon with former Dakar rider Chris Cork the big KTM has received a few significant off-road focussed tweaks.

The Super Adventure S is the more road focussed model in the KTM adventure bike range, but it still has clear off-road credentials with off-road specific (electronically controlled) suspension damping and off-road specific power map.

To ensure that it not only copes with the day of off-roading planned; but excels, I’ve fitted spoked wheels in place of the standard cast items due to their strength (£835.32) and on them I’ve put the proven Continental TKC80 off-road biased tyres.

Two other significant upgrades include a truly fit for purpose bash plate (£233.28) and Rally footrests which are significantly longer and wider and more suited to standing up riding (£174.00 including inserts)

 All that’s left is for me to actually get off road and see how it all performs.
