KTM 1390 Super Duke R Evo

Tested by Michael Neeves, Chief Road Tester

For the last couple of years, I’ve chosen to run touring bikes on MCN’s fleet -  a Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer in 2022 and a Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE in 2023. They’ve been superb at transporting me around Europe, but in between the big trips I haven’t found them a huge amount of fun.

I miss trackdays and general mucking around on two wheels, which is why I’ve chosen the KTM 1390 Super Duke R Evo this year and if that doesn’t get my tail wagging, in every sense, nothing will. I’ve already ridden it at its launch in Almeria and on a recent super-naked group and happily it’s the most exciting big bike money can buy.

So, I’m going to be hitting the track more often this year, but because the KTM is actually very roomy and comfy it should still manage the odd big tour, or two, loaded up with luggage. It also has more rider aids than I’ve been able to get my head around during the times I’ve ridden it, including a five-stage wheelie control. I can’t wait to get stuck in to try that and its other electronic delights.
