What's it like to live with a BMW S1000RR? Find out here...
Tested by Carl Stevens
I adore sportsbikes and want to prove you don’t need an adventure bike to have it all in one package – and the steed to do so? Well, it has to be the S1000RR, given that it’s not only updated for this year, but it’s regularly the top-selling litre sportsbike in the UK. With so many brands investing in sporty models, it’s an exciting time if you’re partial for sticking on a set of leathers for a blast.
But, have BMW gone too far with the RR? It’s morphed from being the softest, friendliest superbike you can buy, to being a far more thoroughbred beast. Success (for the ‘M’ model) in World Superbike proves that it’s worked on track, but I’m intrigued to see if it’s lost the nature that has made it such a big seller. For that reason, I’m going to be doing the usual; fast riding, trackdays and day-to-day business on it, alongside a couple of big trips throughout the year.
