MCN Fleet: Time for the GS to get a refresh
So the GS is booked in for its 12,000-mile service at Balderstons BMW in Peterborough. It’s a big milestone for the bike, and will see its valve clearances checked, air filter replaced along with the standard oil and filter change and general wear and tear checks. I can’t believe it’s come around so soon!
I have to admit though, it’s not quite at 12k yet, the odometer is currently reading 11,132-miles. With a trip to Germany looming this weekend however, I was advised to get the GS serviced earlier rather than later.

The trip will take me to Berlin to go check out the BMW-sponsored Pure & Crafted festival, a celebration of both bikes and music on the streets of the capital. It’s not often you get to see the likes of Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds mixing it up with a load of stunning metal, put together from some of Germany’s top custom builders.
The GS may not necessarily fit the hipster image of the festival but it’s definitely the right bike to take me there – comfortable, fun and capable of taking whatever it’s directed to roll over, it is the ideal machine to go explore German asphalt on the way.
