The Rieju MRX125 is a pukka dirt style learner trailie from Spain with excellent road manners, quality detailing and tempting price. Four stroke engine is from Yamaha so is proven and reliable. Performance  adequate rather than stunning, but all-ropund a great introduction to motorcycling.

Steel twin spar frame and decent-ish suspension and brakes front and rear gives the Rieju MRX125’s chassis a head start over comparable learner trailies and makes this a very good learner road bike with decent stability, practicable handling and adequate comfort. It’s even pretty good on mild off-road stuff, too…

The Rieju MRX125 uses a modern, air-cooled, single cylinder four-stroke supplied by Yamaha and as used by the Japanese firm in its own TTR125. As these things tend to get thrashed it’s reassuring to know that it’ll happy deal with peak revs all day long and there are no reliability issues.

The Rieju MRX125 is not as fragile as may be expected by those unfamiliar with the name. Rieju may be fairly new to the UK but the Spanish (now Chinese OK?) firm ahs been artopiund producing high-spec 50s and 125ds for some time. Good quality componentry and the use of solid Japanese engines should give peace of mind although beware, as these kinds of bikes get a right royal thrashing…

Over £2500 for a learner 125 isn’t exactly chickenfeed but the Rieju MRX125 is significantly cheaper than an equivilent Yamaha or Aprilia and in the Yamaha’s case you get a much higher specced bike into the bargain. Residuals may not be quite as resilient but all round this is a decent value option. Find a Rieju MRX125 for sale.

Equipment

4 out of 5 (4/5)

For this class of bike, the Rieju MRX125 is very good. Pukka off road styling, neat switchgear and insrumentation, mirrors that actually work instead of just showing your elbows etc. Any 17-year-old that gets one of these is gonna think all their Christmases have come at once.
