Cardo announce new Mesh Boost features for unlimited connectivity, available to download free soon

Cardo have announced a major update to their Mesh software that will unlock greater connectivity for second-generation Packtalk devices.

Mesh Boost is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2025 – the tenth anniversary year of Cardo’s first Mesh intercom communication system, the Packtalk – and is a free download for Cardo customers using the Pro, Edge or Neo units.

So what does the update give you? Well, similar to the features boasted by the new Sena 60S, Cardo Mesh Boost will allow up to 31 riders to connect via Dynamic Mesh Connectivity (DMC), either by Public Mesh or Remote Grouping functionality. Public Mesh is an open channel to allow spontaneous connection to fellow riders while out and about, while Remote Grouping is designed to make connecting to your friends easier, allowing groups to be set up ahead of the ride using the Cardo Connect App.

In addition to these features, there will also be Cellular Intercom connectivity. This functionality will allow the connection of any number of riders, with no limit to range, by using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Relying on mobile phone connectivity, this will be subject to the availability of a good data signal.

The Private Chat function will also get some updates allowing group chats to be formed with any number of riders, previously chat function allowed only two participants by accepting an invitation in the Cardo Connect App.

We’ll be keen to give the tech a go as soon as it becomes available so keep an eye out for our full review.

Tested by Ben Clarke for 1 month/500 miles

"The Packtalk Pro takes all the best bits and added extras of previous Packtalks, so you get magnetic cradle attachment, 45mm JBL speakers, top spec Mesh connectivity and FM radio included as well as the new tech.

"I’ve used a few different intercoms now and the main area they fall down for me is the sound. I ride in earplugs and combined with road and wind noise, this usually renders them next to useless above 30mph. The Pro, however, with its extra-large 45mm JBL speakers works for me. I have to run it at full volume and I can’t listen to, say, a quiet podcast on the motorway still, but music and phone calls cut through and are audible.

"The Mesh connection set-up is really easy. On a group ride with other journalists at the product launch, we simply held two of the buttons down simultaneously on each of our units and they synced immediately. Then it’s just a case of chatting away as the channel is constantly open."
