Save 30% on the multi-purpose Arai Tour-X4 - now £200 off

We’re lucky enough to have two opinions on the Arai Tour-X 4 helmet here at MCN, based on nearly 14,000 miles of testing – from product expert Justin Hayzelden and off-road legend Michael Guy. They both rate it, so you know it’s a good bit of kit, and now it’s up to 30% off. That’s is an eye-catching discount.

It makes for significant saving on a pricey lid, which usually retails at £599, but right now we’ve found discounted, Black Friday offers under £400. Pick one without a graphic and the price is a very tempting £339.99 That takes care of the only nitpicking issue either of our reviewers could name – the cost.

Justin’s clocked up 5,500 mostly on-road miles while Michael says he’s been using a Tour-X 4 for nearly five years and 8,400 miles, on trips to Italy, Spain and Iceland, with long days in the saddle tackling Europe’s trickiest tracks. So when we say it’s good, you know it’s good.

Price: £399.99 (was £599.99)

Arai Tour-X 4 review

Justin said: “The Arai Tour-X 4 could well be considered the benchmark for dual sport lids. The basic design had been around for 20 years or so, and what a piece of kit it is.

“Even opening the box is an experience – packaged without tape or staples, there’s a smell when you first put it on that immerses you in a sensation of quality and craftsmanship.

“The Tour-X 4’s is based on the rounded R75 shape, like the latest RX7-V race lid, designed to ‘glance off’ during an impact. It’s made from ‘Complex Fibre Laminate’ for strength and flexibility, and all external elements are designed to simply break off.

“Inside there’s a removable and washable moisture-wicking Dry-Cool liner, which is ultra plush and incredibly comfortable. It draws away sweat and remains dry.

“I’ve yet to find a helmet that is as pleasant to wear as an Arai. It barely feels like there’s anything on your head even after a full day.

“With seven intake ports and five exhausts the Tour-X 4 scores massively for ventilation, even when riding in the Peak District on the hottest day of the year. In the depths of winter with everything closed it insulated my head just fine.”

Michael added: “Tour-X4 has been my go-to helmet for the last five years, the vast majority of which using it for off-road and adventure.

“Events in Italy, the Trans Euro Trail in Northern Spain and finally Iceland, it’s been my helmet of choice when I need something I can completely trust and rely on.”
